Our group investigates biomarkers to improve diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy response prediction in neuroimmunological and neuro-oncological diseases. A major focus is on kappa free light chains (KFLC) and oligoclonal bands (OCB). Beyond KFLC and OCB, we study neurofilaments, GFAP, and additional soluble markers in blood, CSF, and tears, complemented by proteomic and metabolomic profiling to identify novel candidates. Integrated with advanced imaging, these efforts aim to clarify mechanisms of neuroinflammation, demyelination, and microvascular injury. We further investigate biomarker signatures in modern cancer therapies and rare diseases such as progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy and Neuro-Sjögren, with the overarching goal of translating biomarker insights into clinical practice and enabling more personalized treatment strategies.
